Any word on a fix for the out of sync issue? I know that any time i try to convert any 29.97 fps video it slows the video down in the coverted file and it's way off.

Not trying to sound like a smartass, but did you read the eight posts just above yours?

There IS an issue on Windows systems where a comma ",' is used as the decimal separator, as in 29,97, when MP4Box is looking for a period "." as the separator, as in 29.97.

The setting is made in Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Customize > Decimal symbol.  Make sure it's a period, not a comma.

This appears to be the underlying issue on audio sync, video playback problems.

Hey Howie,

I've been watching this thread for a while now since I seem to be having this issue with some 720p tv show rips that I've been converting. Maybe there's still something else going on here, because I live in Canada and I've definitely had my decimal set to "." the whole time I've been using windows, since that country is my language default. I've even doubled checked it just to be sure. I've tried a number of other different things as well, but even despite the correct decimal setting, Xenon still seems to have issues with these files. I'm hoping the next build will resolve it, but I'm open to any suggestions in the meantime. Most files work great though, it's just the occasional one here or there that doesn't. I'll see if I can make a list of examples to see what the commonalities are.

Thanks but this is not the problem in my case i do have the '.' as the separator and the sync problem still occurs with all videos in 29.97fps.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. The only files that I've downloaded lately that are an example of this are episodes of Survivor: Gabon. They're all  29.97 fps, and the audio is always out of sync no matter what my decimal settings.

Same here, I'm again having the same problem, audio is out of sync with some videos and some not, no matter the decimal setting.

Follow-up:

As another user said, the output .mp4 file ends up about 26% too long (53 mins for a 42 min original file).

The .ac3 and .wav and .m4a are all fine at the correct length.

I can't play .h264 files properly (can anyone..?) so I can't check if the problem lies in the demuxing of the .mkv or the building of the .mp4.

--> Can anyone play .h264 files properly and see how long the temporary video file is..?

Also, XenonMKV hasn't changed, and unless Microsoft has pushed out some update through Windows Update that makes a difference, neither has our computers/settings, so the change must lie in the .mkv files.

--> Does anyone know if there is a new .mkv encoder out there that "the scene" is using..?

PS: The "safe synchronizing" (--sync) option does no difference.

PS again: Using the newest version of MP4Box (0.4.6 dev (Feb 25, 2009)) makes no difference.

All - even though there's a new version of XenonMKV planned for a late May release, I'm backporting some of the changes to Build 36 that should alleviate this problem (comma/decimal separator, and FPS rounding issue.)

Thx for the update but now it seems v36 opened up a whole new bag; for me at least. with any 29.97 file now the h264 video file contains no video/won't open in any player. after it's generated by mp4box it won't open, and sometimes crashes my media players. The last 25fps file i tried failed converting with the latest mp4box and outputted a 1byte file with the fallback.

Really appreciate the effort but it looks like I'll have to fall back to 35 until the next release

Argh, these mp4 tools are really a pain to get right. I might take a look at the source again today and see if there's anything I can fix specifically. Have you tried any of the other mp4box versions?

Alternatively, please check the "Log tool output" box in the main interface, then review the logfile for the actual mp4box.exe launch path. I'm wondering if my changes for the comma versus decimal issue had anything to do with it.

After a restart and reconfiguring my codecs I was able to get v36 working for the most part. I'm also thinking that there is an error in the encode of the 2nd video i was talking about that so i'll get some more samples and try them out. So it seems like my previous post was in error!

to clarify, i've tried 3 different fps's and they've all converted correctly, so it seems v36 IS working and the problems were on my end with my config and a couple videos i was trying to convert

After trying a lot more, I'm still having problems with 25fps files it seems. Some files work, some don't so its very confusing. Everything in the log files seem correct, i'm going to mess with it some more to see if i can't nail down the exactly what is working and what isn't

I recently started to try high definition movies and tv series on my xbox. Three of the files worked perfectly. Very fast. I must congratulate you on the program. However, one of them has issues with audio out of sync. Here is the mkv information about the file. I'm not really sure if this will help, but it might. I am using build 36, and do have the dot for the separator. So I am not sure why it is not working correctly.

Strange, I've had the reversed problem.

I fixed the problem on release 35 with decimal -> period, but still had problems with some movie files. But for me release 36 fixed all problems, XenonMKV release 36 has yet to fail a single movie Smiley

Cheers!

Hi,
i've changed my regional settings but ALL my Mp4 are out of sync of my xbox ,i've tried to use safesync...but nothing happens.
and i've tried to play directly from an usb hd ,from a dvd and stream them from my pc.

I'm quite confused :-(
everything seems ok ,but nothing works.
I had some success with another tool..but not for all my MKV.
