I've used XenonMKV to convert a 18GB MKV (x264/DTS) file to MP4. The end result is a 14GB file.

When I try to stream it to the 360 using TVersity, I get an error about the format cannot be understood by the 360 and it only reports being 1:50 minutes when I know it's more like 2:30.

Any ideas?

On a side note, GotSent was able to create 4 files (< 4GB) that streamed well to the 360. However, I was attempting to get one file to limit the loading of videos which could disrupt the flow of the movie.

MP4 size limit for the XBox is 4GB.  That's why your GotSent conversion worked with 4 files under 4GB.

Sorry, you're gonna have to split it.  It's an XBox limitation, not a format or XenonMKV problem.

The only way you'll be able to keep it in one piece >4GB is to re-encode with Windows Media Encoder.

XBox WILL play WMV video files >4GB.  Plays 'em quite nicely, in fact.

Yeah, I sort found out afterwards...

I tried encoding using WME and it didn't let me re-encode the MKV files. I wonder about the quality hit I'd be taking...

If you don't mind the excruciatingly long time it will take WME to re-encode the thing, you won't take a quality hit at all if you re-encode with a very high bitrate....run that sucker up to around 14Mbps COMBINED audio and video bitrate, and I bet you don't notice a thing.

However, IIRC, WME will only recognize an H264 video file as a "legitimate" video source if framed-served with AVISynth.  This forum is not the appropriate place to open THAT can of instructional worms.  Smiley

Split it and watch it.  Screw the contininuity.  Gives you a reason to go get another beer.

Point, set and match! I'll split them up and deal with it. Thanks for all your help.

Free time in this household is a commodity, don't want to spend it doing that sort of stuff... now, to tend to those kids! LOL
