Yeah, subtitles are admittedly a long shot feature request, but I'm not going to definitively say "no" until I can get the rest of things stable and give things a fair chance.

Fair enough, but, do you know of a program that can RIP the Subtitles out of an MKV container, and then re-encode it to an MP4 with said subtitles HARDcoded into the media?

Not sure if I worded that right.

No, we don't know of anything that will do this yet. I'll add all your votes.

The latest version of GOTsent claims to be able to get subtitles to work, so you all may want to check it out if no subtitles are a dealkiller. As expected, video re-encoding is required, so I'm not pressing too hard on this.

Thanks for mentioning that jbillo.  I don't like the length of time for a full re-encode, but some movies do require subtitles for me.  Most of em are still with XenonMKV as it'll be faster.  I'll check this new one out though.

Detect whether or not the mkv is ultimately compatible with the 360 in the first place. GotSent does this, giving a warning that a re-encode is necessary. It's the only reason I still use it but it is an important feature.

dont know how hard this would be to implement but a pause feature when converting.  there has been a couple of time when i need to do something real quick on the computer ive had a couple of instances where ive done something on the computer while xenon has been running and have had it freeze up or got bad mp4 when finished.  this has only happened a couple times nothing major just a quick thought

Most of the xenon converter calls are the command line applications.  Pausing those applications isn't really supported.  I've wanted the same thing and have thought about putting a pause operation that would stop at the next major step.

Do you think that would help at all?

Should just be a new state addition to the application... not too hard to implement that way. It won't be in build 26, but Bill or myself may tackle this for a future release.

I love the application, nice and easy to get to play them HD Films on the XBOX via the Network link..... One request though.. Smiley

I recall reading about the abiltiie to have 5.1 Surround sound with the loss of video size?  Would it be possible to have that option?

Thanks

There is no such ability, as mentioned in the FAQ and on the main XenonMKV site. This is a Microsoft problem:

Quote
Essentially, this means that you cannot combine (H.264) high-definition video with full 5.1 surround audio on the Xbox 360. This is a technical restriction and XenonMKV cannot work around it - which is why it must re-encode your audio tracks from their original number of channels down to 2-channel sound.
