I love this application.. i have so many movies that I have converted with this. and they all work flawlessly…
only thing that I havent figured out is how to play subtitles through tversity after i’ve converted it using xenonmkv… (or even a way to hardcode the subtitles in the video file)

Great program – works flawlessly. Though I do have a question/request – is it possible to set it to convert the AVC level to 3 (for iPod compatibility) instead of 4.1?
Subtitle issue: details here. XenonMKV’s mandate is to avoid re-encoding anything possible, and unfortunately if you’re doing subtitles, you might as well transcode to WMV at the same time (because it’ll take like six hours.)
AVC level: I can try this as an option but it would depend on the reference frame count and resolution of the original video – XMKV doesn’t reencode video, it simply fudges the hex bits giving the profile compliance.
Love the Program, when GOTsent GOTunstable haha. This thing was always solid as a Rock. I do have a request/suggestion can you make an audio passthru (Pass-Through?) option? Its for those MKVs I have with stereo aac but 5.1 profile H264 (Pretty rare but I figured why reencode my audio when its compatible) Thanks again for this awesome program

I’ve noticed that many of the files I have are right on the 4GB threshold, and after downmixing the audio are actually less than 4GB. However, since XenonMKV checks to see if a file split is required on the original MKV and not on the resulting MP4, all files end up getting split regardless of final size.
Feature request: Check the 4GB limit after remuxing, and split the MP4 file if required at that point.
MP4 splitting has proven problematic for many various reasons. There are some discussions to that effect in the forums. I doubt I’ll implement the post-remuxing method as I receive enough reports of people with odd output results. If you want, you can select to avoid splitting files, then use mp4box/YAMB afterwards if required.
First off Jake, thank you so much for putting out such an awsome program for free! It works almost perfectly for me. The only reason I say almost is because of the subtitle issue. I personally wouldnt care if each conversion took six hours. But at the same time I really dont want the video quality sacrafice. I heard on the forums some talk about how you didnt want to reencode anything but I believe if you incorporated this option into Xenon you would get a ton more users. I dont understand the whole process but I know some subtitles are different files that are optional so they are not actually in the video itself, where as others are built into the video. I wanted to know if you had any future plans for subtitles or if there is a way for me to get them on the converted video? Thanks for all your help! (Maybe I should just lean japanese?)

I’m slightly confused about the 4Gb limit. I’ve been using GOTSent to convert movie files, and a few of them are above 4Gb and play fine from my external HDD (NTFS formatting) over my wireless network.
The files are re-encoded as Xvid and are NOT .wmv
So what’s this 4Gb limit that everyone’s talking about?
(Sorry the question is not directly relevant to XenonMKV, but I’m trying to learn more about MKVs and the 360 to get the best possible performance).

The 4GB limit involves H.264 content played on the 360 from any source:
“13. What is the maximum video file size that is supported?
The maximum file size for an AVI, MPEG-4 Part 2, and H.264 file that can be played is 4 GB. 4GB is also the maximum size of any single file that you can store on a FAT32 USB hard drive. However, Windows Media Player 11 and the Zune software do support streaming WMV files greater than 4GB.”

Any way to make it check folders for new files and automaticly convert? Would be sweet to just have this program running in the background and no more worrying about converting files

Hi, firstly id like to say thanks for this excellent program. Secondly I would like to say that I think microsoft are a bunch of tits for setting the MP4 filesize limit to 4Gb. I have spent ages setting everything up on a HFS+ drive using my laptop as a hub to transfer files because my windows 7 pc gets a bluescreen using macdrive/transmac/paragon to overcome the 4Gb limit on the 360, wasted hours of trascoding to find the sound is out or the quality is lost and / or the transcoder simply just crashes for no reason (ultra mkv, avisynth, mediacoder, all2avi, virtualdub, etc). Then i discover this gem of a program that remuxes in little under 15 mins vs the 3 – 6 hours of transcoding but, then after spending an afternoon savouring my glory and demuxing lots of annoying mkv’s i plug the drive into my 360 and BAM i get “error 69-C00D10E0″. I mean why why why why? I don’t wanna split my movies into dorky 4Gb chunks, if i did i would of just stuck with FAT32. Now for the part i’m really hoping you can help me with. Is there anyway to get around this limit? Is there a way to fudge the HEX bits of the MP4 so that the 360 thinks its an AVI or a WMV? Then after the HEX is fudged you should just be able to manually change the extension right? If you could do that we would be sorted. If anyone knows how to do this WITHOUT transcoding id would be extremly grateful.
